As we all know, music is the food of love, Shakespeare taught us that in Twelfth Night … but what music should we be playing if we want to find true love, that’s the real problem.
Well, according to statistics gathered by London based music-match dating service tastebuds.fm, the most commonly matched artist amongst their 3,000 plus members is … wait for it, Radiohead.
In fact, thirty four per cent of users on the site listed the Oxford beat combo as one of their favourite bands, so it seems that mournful indie-rock is what you should be listening to if you want to find a partner.
Unsurprisingly perennial favourites The Beatles were listed as the next favourite, with twenty eight per cent of singletons putting the Fab Four at the top of their pops, although that’s like putting “I like breathing air” on the form, so it probably doesn’t narrow things down too much.
The rest of the top ten favourites are primarily made up of alternative and indie acts which include Muse, Arcade Fire, Death Cab For Cutie, Animal Collective, Coldplay, Vampire Weekend, The Smiths and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
So, I guess the lesson to be learned here is tell people you like indie pop, even if you like urban grime, it’ll make you more attractive … I think.
The search for true love through the medium of music continues …
