Tickets. All the talk for the last month or so has been about tickets. More specifically, the lack of tickets. To the Olympics. And now the Paralympics.
But these aren’t the only events going on in and around our capital. And with the weather set to be balmy over the weekend (contrevening thwe terms of our second biggest talking point -the wet summer), why would you want to sweat whilst watching others sweat anyway?
A far better way to enjoy this weekendwould be to head out into the Oxfordshire countryside for the beautiful union of food and music that is The Big Feastival 2012. After a successful 3-day event on Clapham Common last year, Alex James has invited Jamie Oliver and headline sponsors Electrolux to throw their foodie festival, replete with big name music acts, on his land.
This will no doubt be a tasty and tasteful affair, with a number of well-known restaurants showing off their signature dishes and a full bill of headline music acts across both days. Sponsors Electrolux will be running various cookery classes and will also host a chef’s table there as well as The Big Kitchen. And perhaps most exciting of all will be the appearance of The Farm Lovin’ Criminals, which will see Alex James (bass) join Jamie Oliver (drums) for the first time on stage. The rest of the line-up across the two days is as follows:
Saturday… Paloma Faith / Noisettes / Gaz Coombes / Producers / The Cuban Brothers / Lucy Rose / Sweet Lights
Sunday… Texas / Razorlight / Guillemots / Josh Osho / The Chevin/ The TG Collective / Karima Francis
The shindig will take place this Saturday and Sunday (1st and 2nd September) in the beautiful countryside near Chipping Norton. And the good news is that there are tickets available. But not many (500 for each day at last count), so make your booking quickly…
