Sky has already excited Katy Perry
Sky Ferreira is the latest in a long line of teenage pop stars to find her way onto a major label, and EMI will be hoping for great things from the eighteen-year-old as she releases her first single this week.
Beehive’s Adam Sherwin described her debut effort One as, “a gossamer-light, breathy summery thing which should earn her a significant chart berth amid the Marinas and the Ellie Gouldings. Oddly, it sounds like the sort of Parisian teen-girl pop that used to get Serge Gainsbourg all worked up.”
He also reported that labelmate Katy Perry had posted a raunchy picture of Sky on Twitter along with the provocative message, “I like em right before they’re famous… Fresh meat.”
The official video to the single is rather saucy and was directed by well-known photographer Rankin. And, with rumours of a duet with Britney Spears going around the music industry, I get the feeling we’ll be hearing plenty more from young Sky over the next year or two.
