Festival Republic to announce Latitude and Reading/Leeds line-ups

When will you see the line-up? - Latitude Festival website overloaded...

Festival Republic, the company behind some of the best music festivals in Britain, will kick summer 2012 into gear tonight with the announcement of the line-up for Latitude 2012 at 7pm, followed next week (Monday 12th March) with a similar announcement for their flagship festivals Reading and Leeds.

With acts like Foals, Suede and The National on the 2011 Latitude bill, Melvin & co will have their work cut out to top previous year’s line-ups.  But all the chatter on the Latitude site’s forum points to them doing just that.  Of course, all this could be idle gossip, but with big names like New Order, The Cure and Kate Bush being bandied about (and being in keeping with the festival’s habit of headlining well-established acts like Pet Shop Boys and Grace Jones in 2010), the prospective announcement has already brought the typical ‘high traffic’ holding page to the festival website 6 hours before the announcement.

This level of expectation has become par-for-the-course for Britain’s biggest music events, and so Latitude, taking place at its Henham Park home on 12th to 15th July, has definitely joined the big leagues of summer festivals.  Not surprising considering the great location, eclectic mix of entertainment and attention grabbing headlines that have greeted the past two festivals.

With no leaks at present, there’s not much else to say until this evening, when the headliners will be posted on the website (and thankfully Twitter, etc.).  Tickets will go on sale shortly afterwards at 7:15pm.  And then we’ll repeat the whole process for Reading and Leeds next Monday.

The summer starts here
