Susan Boyle takes on Katy Perry, Lady Gaga & Justin Bieber at Grammys

Scottish singer and Internet sensation Susan Boyle has been nominated for a Grammy for her debut album I Dreamed a Dream in the Best Pop Vocal Album section at the prestigious American music awards. 

SuBo’s first album, which has sold more than ten million copies worldwide will compete against Teenage Dream by Katy Perry, The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga, My World 2.0 by Justin Bieber and Battle Studies by John Mayer for the prize. 

Susan Boyle became an overnight worldwide star after she appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in April 2009 singing I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.  Her rendition of the song became a massive YouTube hit, attracting tens of millions of views around the world. 

Despite not winning the competition, Boyle launched her solo career in November 2009 and has since become one of the best selling British female vocalists of the past decade. 

Her popularity, particulalry in America, ensured that her first album was a smash hit, and her second release The Gift has also sold very well. 

The biggest winner on Grammy nominations night was rapper Eminem who has been shortlisted for ten awards. 

Katy Perry was nominated for four awards, Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Female Pop Vocal and Best Pop Collaboration.
