++ Update: Our verdict on the late acts, 2manydjs and LCD Soundsystem is right here – we know who we preferred ++

Missy Elliott has definitely got stage prescence. It was a solid hip hop set that got the crowd going but what didn’t make much sense was her vacating the stage for some other ‘singer’ towards the end.
She had some kind of dancing flunky copying her every move and then announced that she was ‘the flyest s**t in the house’.
Bit weird.
Bottles were thrown. Missy herself is probably getting a lot of sponsorship money from Adidas. Or at least she should be. Everyone on the stage was wearing a LOT of it and the set ended with her holding an Adidas trainer up for the cameras… Adidas.
Darwin Deez should be more famous. His set started with the band doing a choreographed dance burst to Peanut Butter Jelly Time. The rest of it was peppered with similar dances, and their own songs were great fun too, if slightly let down at the beginning by his trademark jangly guitar being a little low in the mix. For me, DNA was a standout track and the best on his album. The crowd, though, preferred his closing performance of Radar Detector. Horses for courses.
Now I don’t totally get the appeal of Snoop Dogg. But I wandered over to take a look and I have to admit I danced more than I thought I would. The only thing I would say is this. When he did House of Pain’s Jump Around the crowd went wild, and it begs the question: if the audience’s favourite tune is a cover, can he really be taken seriously as a musician? Saying that, Drop it Like it’s Hot went down well, and he had a wicked microphone that made it look like he was wearing a massive bling knuckle duster with his name on it.
Here’s a massively confused short video of sorts of Snoop on stage (article continues below):
The New Young Pony Club were a hidden gem. 3 talented and sexy girls + 2 talented and… talented guys = happy sparky indierock. The best song of the set was 2005′s amazing Ice Cream – impossible not to dance to. And there was also a lot of new material that was as banging as any of their previous output. Look out for the keyboardist, Lou. Not to detract from the rest of the band but she is something else.

Next up, 2manydjs and LCD Soundsystem. I can’t hardly wait….

Sorry but Missy Elliot was awfully poor…not solid
