Can you see the telly from there?

Whether you loved it or hated it … a lot of you tuned in to see it.

It may have been at 5am when Lost finale “The End” screened in the UK as part of an American west coast simulcast, but still a staggering 600,000 plus British fans watched the show. To put that in perspective, in recent months, Sky One has been struggling to get those sort of audiences for the show in its usual prime time slot at 9pm on Friday night.

The five minutes peak was 854,000 viewers and averaged 635,000 in the graveyard slot between 5 and 7.15am.
Such was the popularity of the show that between 6 and 6.30am, the conclusion of the island frolics was beating both GMTV and BBC Breakfast in the ratings … that’ll learn ‘em for not competing with an Only Fools and Horses Christmas special re-run and a James Bond film.

Sky One was one of seven broadcasters worldwide (mainly in Europe) to get in on the simulcast with ABC … there must have been a lot of bleary eyes at work on Monday morning.

In America the show also did well (in a more conventional 9pm Sunday night slot) attracting 13 million viewers … the highest ratings for the island adventure show in over two years.

I thought the GRAN FINALE of lost was EXCELLENT as it blended all the things that supposedly happen in the afterlife and still left room for our own imagination to do some work… I will miss lost forever it has so far been the BEST SERIES I’VE EVER WATCHED and I do watch a fair amount of them!
