Another series on the way

The BBC has confirmed it will be making a third series of EastEnders E20, the online youth spin-off of its flagship Walford based soap opera.

Written by young aspiring screenwriters and showcasing new and emerging acting talents and crew members, the show first aired in January 2010 with 13 online episodes which were subsequently screened on BBC Three.

The first series, and its associated content, received over 1.7 million views across the BBC website and the BBC iPlayer, a figure which continues to grow as the project gains more recognition.

A second series of E20 began earlier in the month and is currently airing on the BBC website, with an omnibus programme on BBC Three each Monday evening.

Series producer Deborah Sathe, who spoke to the Beehive about the project in August, said today: “We are thrilled with the success of the first two series and have already started to storyline the third. Be prepared for a few familiar faces, a couple of new ones and a lot of fireworks.”

The third series of EastEnders E20 is due to air on the BBC website sometime early in the new year.
