The BBC has denied reports that American rapper 50 Cent has signed a deal to make a one off cameo appearance in their flagship soap opera EastEnders.
Yesterday, The Daily Mirror claimed, “EastEnders bosses are delighted Fiddy has agreed to the cameo in the next six month after weeks of talks.”
The Mirror said 50 Cent became hooked on EastEnders after he was introduced to the show by footballing friend Rio Ferdinand and has always has developed a soft spot for Barbara Windsor’s character. They quote the rapper:
“I really wanted Peggy to throw me out of her pub, but I didn’t get organised quick enough and it’s too late now.”
However, a BBC spokesperson told the Beehive today “We’re flattered he’s a fan but there have been no talks about him appearing in the show” with a BBC insider confirming “there is no truth in this”.
So, it looks like the red tops have got carried away with themselves again, perhaps they were fuelled by the Snoop Dogg and David Beckham rumours for the Coronation Street 50th anniversary episode?
You can’t blame them, EastEnders has enjoyed celebrity cameos in the past, including Mayor of London Boris Johnson last Autumn and comedian David Walliams in 2003 … but it looks like rap fans might need to wait a little bit longer before they get their celebrity fix in Walford.
