Fans of the two biggest soaps will be in seventh heaven this Friday night when Coronation Street and EastEnders team up for a Children in Need special.
All in the aid of ‘charidy’, some of the best loved cast members from both soaps will invade one another’s sets for a one off twin-centred comedy episode called East Street.
Whilst Jason Grimshaw (played by Ryan Thomas) is off ordering a pint from Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) in the Queen Vic, EastEnders stars Darren Miller (Charlie G. Hawkins) and Christian Clarke (John Partridge) are up north, enjoying the hospitality of the Rovers Return, and who knows, perhaps even a hotpot.
Other actors involved in the surreal show include Shane Ritchie (who plays Alfie Moon), Beverley Callard (long suffering landlady of the Rovers Return, Liz MacDonald) and Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor in Corrie).
Speaking about the experience, Callard said: ‘I’ve visited the EastEnders set many years ago but this is the first time I’ve worked on it and it was great. We’ve had a great time and the script is so funny.’
Shane Ritchie added: ‘It’s been surreal. I loved watching their reactions when I showed them round the Square. And seeing Bev and Jessie behind the bar was strange.
‘
East Street will be screened at 9pm on BBC One on Friday November 19th as part of the Children in Need telethon
