Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding is to take on her first television presenting role as the host of Sky Living’s Dating in the Dark when it returns for a third series next year.
Harding will front the RTS award-winning show when it airs in eight parts next spring, introducing, greeting and quizzing the daters, and reporting on their thoughts post date.
Previously the UK version of the dating format, developed in the Netherlands by Talpa Content, part of John de Mol’s media company, didn’t have an onscreen host, but with Harding at the helm will become closer in content to the American version of the programme.
For the uninitiated, Dating in the Dark is a show that puts a group of men and women through a series of truly ‘blind’ dates in a totally dark room. It’s only after they’ve spent a significant amount of time together ‘blind’ that the contestants get to decide who they want to get a glimpse of in the light.
The new series of the show will see the number of contestants increased from three to four, but for one (un)lucky male and female contestant – their time in the house will be a short but sweet experience.
Sarah said of her new role: ‘I’ve been a huge fan of Dating in the Dark and I’m totally excited to be presenting the third supersized series. Dating is hard enough in the light, so I can’t wait to see what unfolds when the lights are off!’
